It is with a heavy heart that we pass along the sad news of the passing of Gordie Wakelin. For so many years, Gordie was the heart of Casco Bay Hockey and his love of the game was infectious. Casco Bay Hockey recognized Gordie’s immense contributions with the Pioneer Award in 2015 and awards the Wakelin Cup for the JV Hockey League in his honor.
From Mites to Old-Timers Hockey, Gordie leaves behind a rich legacy. Our thoughts are with his wife, Celeste, and his son, Victor Wakelin, who was a standout goalie for a number of Casco Bay teams.
Gordie will be missed, but he will never be forgotten.
