4th Annual CBHA Pre-Season High School Clinic

We will be hosting our 4th annual pre-season training camp for high school boys from November 5-16, 2018.  This intensive program is a great opportunity for players to get in “hockey shape” and ready for the high school season and varsity tryouts.

We are excited to announce that Alex Kurtz from Stride Envy will be running the clinic this season, and will be assisted by former professional player and longtime coach, Kent Hulst.  Alex is a Casco Bay Hockey alum who played at Yarmouth HS and for the NE Wolves (EHL) before playing at USM (Div. III/ECAC).  He has been teaching hockey and skating skills with Stride Envy since 2010, together with coaching stints with Blue Chip Hockey and NYA.  Kent Hulst is a Canadian native selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 4th round in 1986.  He played for the Portland Pirates for 8 years, was inducted into the Pirates Hall of Fame in 2002, and remains the career points leader in Pirates history.  Kent has a wealth of coaching experience since retiring from professional hockey.

Longtime CBHA coach, Merrimack College grad, and CBHA alum Shaun Stairs will also assist as needed.  We welcome back Fred Quistgard to provide goalie-specific training.  Fred has been teaching the art of goaltending since 1978 with college, HS, and prep coaching experience at, among other places, Union College and Bowdoin College (women’s teams) and UNH, St. Paul’s School, and Phillips Exeter Academy.

During the first 60 minutes of each session, we will work on power skating and skill development, and goalie-specific training.  The last 60 minutes will consist of small area games and scrimmages.

There is a limit of 24 skaters and 4 goalies per session.  The roster filled up quickly the  last 2 seasons, and we had a waiting list.  This roster limit will not be increased.  The cost is $280 per skater & $140 per goaltender (12 hours of ice with professional instruction).  All players must be registered with USA Hockey for the 2018-19 season.

Group I will skate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:20-5:20 pm.

Group II will skate on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20-5:20 pm and on Fridays from 5:30-7:40 pm

If a player has a conflict due to their fall sports team reaching the State finals, they may opt out of the first week and will only be charged $140.00 ($70 for goalies) for the second week of sessions.  Those players will be charged full rate, and then credited ½ back once the conflict issue is known.
